Blacktop and Driveways

Anyone walking through the Village around 1pm this afternoon (10/10/06) probably noticed the seven NYSEG vehicles running about town and/or parked along the roadside. NYSEG has increased its effort on site in order to expedite the installation of all the utility service connections.

Elsewhere on Main Street, crews continued to fill in some the incomplete driveways along Main Street with blacktop. Please remember that blacktop comes down in layers with the coarse binder forming the base of the asphalt and then a finer surface making the final street level layer. This is why crews leave about a 1-inch difference between the blacktop and street when pouring the asphalt. Blacktop crews have finished two of the driveways by the Big M Supermarket, but must wait for the sidewalk to be poured by the Movie Gallery/Family Dollar driveway in order to begin blacktop there.
