Bridge Painting Tomorrow

On Saturday October 28th 2006, about 10 students from the Into the Streets Program at Cornell University's Public Service Center will participate in a local day of service by helping the MSP and other Trumansburg residents re-paint the bridge over Trumansburg creek.

The bridge was not originally a part of the Main Street work as it fell under the jurisdiction of the New York State Department of Transportation. The MSP Advisory committee felt that having an un-refurbished bridge sandwiched between two newly enhance sections of Main Street would look and feel awkward. Together with the Village, Economy Paving, and C & S Engineers, the MSP convinced the DOT to allow work on the bridge. This is why you see new sidewalks/curbs on the bridge as well as the upcoming fresh coat of paint.

Anyone interested can participate in tomorrow's event. Meet at the bridge right next to the Gimme! Coffee shop on Main Street at 12:30pm for event start. Work will last from 12:30pm to 3:30pm, but feel free to come and go as you like. Contact the MSP Office for more information.
