Water Loss Report

As many residents, business owner, and visitors/patrons must have noticed, many parts of the Village lost water service yesterday (Thursday July 27th) from about 10am to 2pm.

At 10am Economy Paving crews planned to hook up the new water main to the existing old water main at the Main Street/Union Street intersection. Water was to be shut off at this location only and the only businesses expected to lose water service were the Napa Auto Parts store and the offices of the Trumansburg Telephone Company. However, due to faulty cut-off switches, water could not just be shut off at these locations. Both Economy Paving and Village DPW crews went to the next subsequent cut off to find that it too was not operating properly! The only way to connect the old and new mains required using a cut off valve that would shut down water from farther away from that intersection. While this shut off water to the location it also shut off water to most of the streets behind Old Main Street and most of the Main Street business.

The MSP and Economy Paving apologize for this delay and any inconvenience generated by it. There are no more expected water losses in the upcoming future. Any questions/comments should be brought to the MSP at 607-387-4471 or tburgmainst@fltg.net.
